As part of our engagement with McAllister & Quinn outlined in an email sent yesterday, we are soliciting from you concept papers aligned with UH’s Research Thrusts to identify and execute on strategic projects. Concept papers will be our major mechanism to select the eight grant proposals we will be working on with McAllister & Quinn for extramural funding over the next two years.

As part of President Khator’s 50-in-5 initiative, the University of Houston has engaged with McAllister and Quinn, a DC-based firm specialized in large grants consulting, to identify funding opportunities, assist with major proposal development, and provide tailored training in complex proposal preparation over the next two years.

The United States Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences is the Army’s lead agency for the conduct of research, development, and analyses for the improvement of Army readiness and performance via research advances and applications of the behavioral and social sciences that address personnel, organization, training, and leader development issues.
The requested research will develop a comprehensive measure of effective engagement in systems thinking among Army leaders.

Many of you will soon be receiving an email notification through UH’s new online system, ICON, that your annual Conflict of Interest in Research Certification is due.
Upon receipt of the email notification from ICON, please follow the link and provide your online FY2019 certification/disclosure; paper forms are no longer accepted.
Annual certifications are due no later than October 1, 2018.

The NIH letter to Grantees regarding foreign entities influence on NIH researchers contains the following:
- NIH efforts to identify steps that can help mitigate unacceptable breaches of trust and confidentiality
- Reminder to applicants and awardees to disclose all forms of other support and financial interests, including support coming from foreign governments or-other foreign entities
- Suggestion that grantee reach out to an FBI field office to schedule a briefing on this matter

Effective June 15, 2018, both the UH Policy on Conflict of Interest in Research and the format for certification and disclosure have been updated. The new policy rollout will coincide with the new online system, ICON.
All new awards fall under the new policy and require online certification and disclosure (i.e. submit an annual certification, taking previously disclosed interests and the new award into consideration).

You must retain all paper and/or electronic records associated with your agreements awarded through USDA Agencies. All records generated from and/or pertaining to agency agreements MUST be retained until you are notified that the freeze has been lifted.

NSF will implement changes in FastLane and Research.gov to support policy updates in the PAPPG (NSF 18-1) and to run updated Budget Justification page limit automated compliance checks in FastLane.
