Methods for non-wavelength-converting multi-lane optical switching

The Innovation

A method for providing multi-wavelength switching. The method is comprised of receiving a plurality of signals through at least one input port, and separating the plurality of said signals into at least one wavelength signal set based on wavelengths, wherein a first wavelength signal set of said at least one wavelength signal sets corresponds to a first wavelength.

Competitive Edge

Eliminate the need for wavelength conversion in optical burst switching. Greatly reduce the cost of optical burst switching deployment.

Targeted Market

Long haul DWDM networks; Metropolitan and local area networks; Networks for Grid computing.
