Angelina Williams, D.V.M.; DACLAM

Angelina Williams is a veterinarian with the UH Division of Research's Animal Care Operations. Her primary responsibilities include clinical duties in the rodent and large animal areas of the facility, assisting investigators in achieving compliance with animal care and use regulations, and substantial involvement in the upper-level management within Animal Care Operations.

Williams is also the coordinator of the Occupational Health program, which is designed to promote the health of and prevent injury/illness among individuals at the University of Houston who may have occupational exposure to animals.

Her collaborations with researchers has led to several scientific publications and presentations, including a first-author journal article. She also has served as an Attending Veterinarian at Rochester General Hospital and has experience as an IACUC member.

In addition to her current role in Laboratory Animal medicine, she also is experienced in Zoological and Small Animal medicine.

Williams received her Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Sciences with a concentration in Animal Science at Southern University A&M College in 1999, and she earned her veterinary degree from Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. Following one year of private practice, Williams was accepted into the Comparative Medicine residency program at the University of Rochester Medical Center (2005), which also included weekly rotations at Seneca Park Zoo (NY). She returned to her hometown, Houston, in 2008 and began work as a Clinical Veterinarian at Charles River Laboratories, BRF facility, as well as the University of Houston.

In 2012, Williams became an American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) Diplomate. Williams currently serves as the co-editor of the Texas Branch of the American Association of Laboratory Animal Science (TBAALAS) newsletter. She also is very active in giving back to her community through volunteer programs with a non-profit organization, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
