The University of Houston is a Carnegie-designated Tier One public research institution. The University of Houston is pursuing an aggressive agenda to enhance and sustain its status as a premier research university. To that end, the Division of Research is enhancing research infrastructure, improving awards management, creating new intellectual property, and enhancing its capacity to secure additional funding.
Research Centers and Institutes
The Office of Research Core Facilities works to leverage equipment, resources and highly qualified staff that are accessible by a broad group of researchers within and outside of UH.
- The Research and Scholarship Committee (RSC) provides the Division of Research recommendations and policies on issues affecting the research community.
- The Committees for Protection of Human Subjects (CPHS) is responsible for safeguarding of the rights and welfare of all persons participating in research projects.
- The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) assures that animal research is conducted at the University of Houston remains within full compliance with federal, state and local regulations and institutional policies.
- The Conflict of Interest Committee (COIC) reviews disclosures as required in regulatory requirements set forth by the Public Health Service (PHS) and the National Science Foundation (NSF).
