Underrepresented Women of Color Coalition

The Underrepresented Women of Color Coalition is a dynamic community of women academics, cultivated to help the academy and the University of Houston advance by capitalizing on opportunities that exist in academic leadership, research innovation, and scholarly training of an ethnically diverse community. It has become increasingly important to retain underrepresented women of color faculty members and facilitate their career advancement and engagement in leadership positions throughout the professoriate.

Purpose

The Underrepresented Women of Color Coalition is a university-level initiative focused on increasing the retention and promotion of tenured and tenure-track underrepresented women of color faculty members.

Mission

Our mission is to provide a holistic support system that promotes tenured and tenure-track underrepresented women of color faculty members success in the academy by facilitating scholarly collaborations, peer-advocacy, professional development, and leadership advancement.
