Please read below for orientation information and answers to some Frequently Asked Questions.  

Orientation Information


Date: Thursday August 21, 2014

Time:

The agenda for the day is still in development. We can tell you that the day will be jam-packed with plenty of informative sessions. Please plan to be with us from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. The Orientation ends with a reception (5:00pm-6:00pm) hosted by the Provost and attended by deans and department chairs.

Location and Parking Directions:

UH Hilton Hotel, Conrad Hilton Ballroom (S202). For your convenience, please park in the UH Hilton Hotel garage. A free parking pass will be provided to you at the orientation.

Frequently Asked Questions


Who should attend?

All new full-time faculty with an effective start date between February 1, 2014 and September 1, 2014 are expected to attend.

Does benefits sign-up take place at NFO?

Yes. Human Resources Orientation is part of New Faculty Orientation. Benefits information and sign-up takes place immediately following the New Faculty Orientation. You also have the option of attending Human Resource Orientation  prior to August 21.  If you prefer an earlier date, please speak to your department business administrator to make the arrangements.


Is registration required?

You must register to attend, using the online registration form. You will then receive an email confirming your registration.


When may someone register?

Your hiring documentation must be completed.  Your department business administrator will let you know when you may register.


What is the registration deadline?

August 7, 2014.


Will breakfast/lunch be provided?

Yes. A continental breakfast and a buffet lunch are provided, which include vegetarian options. Should you have other dietary restrictions, please include them in the online registration form.


What is the attire?

Casual business is recommended. A jacket is not required. Please note that the meeting rooms are somewhat chilly for some attendees.
