The University of Houston College of Optometry seeks an outstanding individual to work with The Ocular Surface Institute. This is a tenure-track position for an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the either the Department of Clinical or Vision Sciences. The College and Ocular Surface Institute are seeking individuals who will complement and broaden its research strengths in the area of ocular surface research, particularly in biomedical optics.
Current faculty of The Ocular Surface Institute are engaged in research in ocular surface diseases in a broad sense, including dry eye disease and infection and ocular inflammation, in addition to using optical imaging systems for the study of visual optics, ocular surface characteristics, physiology and pathophysiology. Highly motivated, team oriented individuals with some background in biomedical science, and training and expertise in optics are being sought for this faculty position. Having experience in optical design and development of purpose built custom optical systems for biomedical applications would be advantageous.
Researchers at the University of Houston College of Optometry comprise a well-funded, vibrant and interactive community. The Ocular Surface Institute has state of the art facilities for patient-based research including an environmental chamber as well as excellent laboratory facilities for animal, cellular and molecular studies and in vivo and in vitro imaging. The faculty member will join the College’s internationally recognized faculty (see http://www.opt.uh.edu/) and will teach optometric and graduate students in didactic or clinical settings, and be expected to contribute to and participate in an externally funded research program associated with The Ocular Surface Institute.
