Assistant Professor - Piano Pedagogy - Tenure-Track

Description:

Responsibilities: To develop a piano pedagogy program and teach classes related to this area. To work toward establishing the Moores School of Music as a center for piano pedagogy study. To collaborate with our Preparatory and Continuing Studies division in developing outreach programs for piano instructors in the Houston area, and in creating teaching opportunities for UH pedagogy students. To teach classes related to piano pedagogy and to teach piano to undergraduate and graduate students as assigned, demonstrating a broad knowledge of the piano repertory. To oversee the school's group piano classes. To recruit and retain excellent piano and piano pedagogy students at the University of Houston.

Qualifications: Individual must be a superb pianist with the normal professional and academic background of a faculty artist. Demonstrated success in piano teaching at the highest levels represented by success of students. Demonstrated ability to recruit/attract students and to retain them in a music school environment. Demonstrated capacity to plan and organize events on campus and in the community such as master-classes, workshops, conferences, etc. Ability to work in a positive, supportive, team environment. Doctorate preferred.

Data Available: August 2014.

Rank and Salary: Assistant Professor (tenure track); salary commensurate with experience.
