Assistant/Associate Professor - Electrical Power Engineering Technology - Tenure-Track
The Department of Engineering Technology at the University of Houston is currently seeking applications and nominations for a tenure track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level starting in fall 2015 in the area of Network Centric Energy. A PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a closely related field, with a strong commitment to research and teaching is required. Industrial experience is highly desirable.
The emerging fields of Network Centric Energy are represented by recent advances in digital oilfield operations, smart grid, remote wind plant operation and other areas that combine real-time sensor networks, complex data analytics, integrated modeling for control/optimization, digital energy and distributed operations/collaborations. The successful applicant is expected to demonstrate a track record of research, teaching and industrial interaction in one or more areas of Network Centric Energy. It is expected that the selected applicant would establish a research program in an appropriate area of technology associated with the fundamental building blocks of this emerging field and develop strong undergraduate and graduate programs of courses that prepare students for careers in the application of these techniques to energy industry operations. Faculty members are expected to establish a vigorous externally funded research program, develop interdisciplinary research partnerships on campus and with the nearby Houston Energy Corridor, and contribute to maintaining professional accreditation of our programs.
With state-of-the-art science, technology, and research facilities, such as the Power Electronics, AT&T, Biomedical Imaging, Biotechnology, and Sensors Labs, the Department has experienced steady growth in research funding and student enrollment, and currently has over 1300 students, 26 full-time faculty and staff, and offers four B.S. and 3 M.S. degrees and spends over $1 M from external sources.
