Assistant/Associate/Full Professor - Educational Psychology - Health Education, Community Health or Health Disparities - Tenure-Track


The Health Program, Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Houston seeks scholars for a full-time, 9 month, tenured or tenure track faculty appointment at the academic rank of assistant, associate, or full professor. The Health Program places emphasis on the professional preparation of undergraduate and graduate students, and requires both rigorous scholarship and sponsored research agendas of its highly productive faculty. Priority areas of focus for this position are in major health disparities affecting minority populations (e.g., obesity, cancer, diabetes, substance abuse, and access to healthcare).


Successful candidates for this position must hold a doctoral degree in public health, allied health, health disparities, community health, psychology, social and bio-behavioral sciences programs in public health or a closely related discipline. Candidates should demonstrate a record suggestive of the potential to contribute to the mission of the Health Program within the Department of Educational Psychology, which would include successful and effective teaching ability, current or historical external funding, a record of scholarly publications and presentations, and evidence of service to the profession. The candidate's university teaching and scholarly record must be commensurate with appointment as an Assistant/ Associate/Full Professor.


Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, securing external funding to support their research agenda and student trainees, conducting and presenting research via scholarly publications and presentations, serving on departmental, college-level, and university-level committees, and serving on master's and doctoral committees.
