COMPARATIVE CULTURAL STUDIES
Instructional Assistant Professor - Liberal Studies - Non-Tenure-Track
The Department of Comparative Cultural Studies at the University of Houston invites applications for a non-tenure track position at the Instructional Assistant Professor level.
A scholar in a Humanities field with specialization in Interdisciplinary Liberal Arts, including the Humanities, Social Sciences and Natural Sciences or Mathematics.
Applicants must have completed the PhD, have experience teaching critical reasoning and logic in a Great Books program using the Socratic method, as well as intellectual history or history of philosophy from Antiquity to the present. A focus on social theory, political theory, philosophy of history, and ethics will be particularly helpful.
Applicants should demonstrate a record of successful teaching at an urban university with a diverse student population and have experience in academic program administration and development. Applicants must also be willing and able to assist the Director of Liberal Studies with student recruitment, mentoring, and program management.
