Professor - Director of Institute for Multidimensional Air Quality Studies (IMAQS) - Tenure-Track

Description:

The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences invites applications for the position of Director, Institute for Multidimensional Air Quality Studies (IMAQS).

The IMAQS Director will provide dynamic leadership in formulating and implementing a vision to further advance atmospheric research at the University of Houston.

IMAQS includes an atmospheric science research team of interdisciplinary researchers consisting of six faculty and five post-doctoral researchers committed to perform measurement and modeling studies of the complex issues in air quality, meteorology and climate change. Modeling efforts address many critical components such as emissions, meteorology, and atmospheric chemistry. Measurement programs emphasize dynamical, physical, and chemical characterization of the urban, coastal and polar environments. The institute works closely with national, state and local leaders to identify key scenarios to run on modeling systems so that public policy is guided with the best science.

The successful candidate will be an internationally recognized researcher and leader in the field of atmospheric science who addresses research issues of compelling interest and has an ability to formulate and lead transformational research projects as Director. A strong record of accomplishment in scholarly research appropriate for appointment as a tenure-line Full Professor is required. Candidates should possess strong communication, teaching, and mentoring skills, a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across disciplines, and a record of success in leadership roles. Candidate will be expected to teach in both the undergraduate and graduate level degree programs.
