Chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering - Tenured

Description:

The Cullen College of Engineering of the University of Houston invites nominations and applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

As part of a major drive for excellence, the college seeks innovative and enthusiastic leadership to significantly enhance the educational and research programs of the CEE Department, as well as increase its national stature. The successful candidate must possess academic skills and credentials of the highest caliber, with an established national and international reputation in research, and academic and professional leadership in civil and environmental engineering. Credentials appropriate to the rank of Professor are required.

The department has 15 tenured/tenure-track faculty, approximately 225 undergraduates, and 90 graduate students with programs leading to bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in civil and environmental engineering. The department has highly respected programs in structural, water resources/ocean, geotechnical, and environmental engineering, and is actively building on these strengths. Additionally, several faculty members are actively participating in interdisciplinary research centers across the University. Start Date, Salary, and Benefits:

The position is available beginning Fall 2008. Salary and benefits are competitive.
