ART
Assistant Professor - Sculpture - Interdisciplinary - Tenure-Track
Description:
The School of Art at the University of Houston is seeking applicants for a tenure track position in Sculpture beginning Fall 2008.
As the School of Art transitions to a more conceptual and interdisciplinary graduate program, we are seeking individuals who can not only masterfully teach basic skills but also evolve the program in new directions. The successful candidate will be centered in sculpture but must be able to operate fluidly in an interdisciplinary environment, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students from across the School. We are interested in (but not limited to,) sculptural practice that includes Installation, New/Multi-Media, Environmental, Interactive, Kinetic, Electronic, Activist, Performance and Hybrid Forms. The ability to form collaborative projects is essential as the School of Art is a member of the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts, a newly endowed alliance that supports Interdisciplinary Art.
An MFA in the Visual Arts or equivalent terminal degree and two years of teaching experience are required. Candidates should have a substantial record of accomplishment in the field, demonstrated by gallery and museum exhibitions, or other appropriate events.
