The Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture, University of Houston invites applications for a full-time, tenure- track studio teaching position with an emphasis on interior architecture at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
The University of Houston is located within a large dynamic metropolitan area and is among the most diverse universities in the country. The Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture takes advantage of this unique setting by offering a comprehensive integration of programs in architecture, industrial design and space architecture (SICSA). The faculty and students are actively involved in design practice, research, and urban issues. With the recently completed Burdette Keeland Jr. Design Exploration Center, investigations of computer fabrication, prototyping, and design-build programs are now facilitated with advanced machinery.
The College of Architecture is developing a proposal for a new degree program in Interior Architecture integrated with the Architecture and Industrial Design programs. The successful candidate will contribute to the definition of the proposed program curriculum, and its integration throughout undergraduate and graduate design studios. The candidate shall pursue creative scholarship through teaching, practice, and/or research. The College of Architecture and the University of Houston recognize design practice as a valid form of scholarship.
The candidate should be qualified to teach upper level design studios, integrate interior architecture design principles into design curricula, conduct lecture or seminar courses, and promote interior architecture. Candidates must have a Masters degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or Interior Design. Professional experience, history of competitive design awards and publications, and previous teaching experience are required. Professional licensure is preferred.
