Assistant or Associate Professor - Mechanical Engineering Technology - Tenure-Track

Description:

The Department of Engineering Technology of the College of Technology at the University of Houston is seeking to fill one Tenure Track Faculty at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in its Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) program starting in fall 2013.

The appointment level will be commensurate with the candidate's academic and industrial experience. The successful candidate will have earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, a Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field and will have a combination of teaching and relevant industrial experience.

Particular areas of interest include Computer Aided Engineering Design, lnstrumentation & Control, Thermal/Fluids, Manufacturing and Automation, MEMS/NEMS, Petroleum, Energy and related or emerging areas with a major commitment to research and teaching.

Industrial experience is highly desirable.

Faculty members are expected to develop new courses, teach existing courses, and collaborate with other faculty in curriculum issues, articulate well with industry, and contribute to the continuous improvement and outcome-based assessment of the program to maintain professional accreditation.

The individual must command excellent written and oral communication skills and must continually improve his/her teaching skills.

The MET program has experienced steady growth in student enrollment and in industrial and research funding support. The department has over 1100 students, 26 full-time faculty and staff, offers 4 B.S. degrees and three M.S. degrees and spends over $1.1M from external sources.
