Instuctional Assistant Professor - PEB Activity Program - Health and Human Performance - Two (2) Positions - Non-Tenure-Track

Description:

The Department of Health and Human Performance at the University of Houston is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Instructional Assistant Professor of Physical Activity who exhibits demonstrable skills for a variety of courses in a high degree of professionalism, with a strong commitment to our students, and with the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.

These positions are a 9-month appointment with Summer school teaching optional. Effective date of appointment will be August 2013.

Qualification: Master’s degree in appropriate discipline preferred. Credentials including professional fitness group exercise plus current CPR/First Aid certification or other comparable experience demonstrating eminence in the field of athletics or physical education may be accepted in addition to Bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities: The faculty instructor is responsible for teaching eight to ten fitness activity classes per week whereby each class meets, three hours per week. The instructor will be required to develop and follow a department approved course syllabi and will be responsible for teaching and assessing students on the fundamental skills and knowledge of the activity course. In addition, they will be responsible for calculating and posting student grades and maintaining communication through college email.

Salary: $35,000/contract.
