Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor - Civil and Environmental Engineering - Tenure-Track

Faculty Position:
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE)-University of Houston invites applications for one tenure-track faculty position in environmental or geo-environmental engineering.

Applications are invited from candidates for all ranks with multi-disciplinary interests. Candidates applying for higher ranks are preferred and are expected to demonstrate nationally and internationally recognized scholarly activities with a strong record of externally funded research. The candidates must also demonstrate a commitment towards teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Qualifications:
Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, or in a closely related field. Successful candidates are expected to develop nationally recognized, cross-disciplinary research programs in collaboration with the current faculty in the department, college of engineering and university as well as major energy (oil and gas) industries & health (medical centers) organizations.

We are especially interested in applicants with research interests in emerging areas in environmental chemistry and/or geo·materials with a particular emphasis on energy.

The University of Houston is located in a park-like campus a few minutes from the Houston city center, Houston, Texas with over 40,000 students in the main campus. UH is a Tier-1 Carnegie Foundation research university.

The CEE department currently has 21 tenure-track faculty members and is expected to grow further in the coming years. Currently it educates over 300 undergraduate students, and 160 graduate students with over 75 Ph.D. students.

The department has recently embarked on an exciting period of research growth, high National Research Council (NRC) ranking, and committed leadership to sustainable growth.

Houston is the fourth largest city in the U.S. with over 4.5 million in population. It is the energy capital with the largest medical center in the world, state-of-the-art recreational facilities, excellent schools, and affordable housing.

The start date for these appointments is September 1, 2013.
