Biology and Biochemistry
Associate or Full Professor - Cell Signaling - Two (2) Positions - Tenure-Track or Tenured
The Center for Nuclear Receptors and Cell Signaling in the Department of Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Houston invites applications for two tenured or tenure-track faculty at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor with special interests and a record of accomplishment in neurobiology, structural biochemistry, nuclear receptors and the immune system, or systems biology of cell signaling.
There is some flexibility with respect to research areas of focus, and we will consider outstanding productive investigators working in other areas that are relevant to the goals of the Center. Successful applicants will also complement existing departmental strengths in neuroscience, developmental biology, cell and molecular biology and the mechanisms of transcriptional regulation. We are especially interested in recruiting mid-career and senior level investigators with active externally funded research programs.
The positions require a PhD, MD, or DVM and significant relevant faculty or industry experience in appropriate areas of life sciences. We also expect faculty in the Center to maintain nationally competitive externally funded research programs and to participate in graduate and undergraduate teaching.
The Center has state-of-the-art new laboratory space, well-equipped core facilities, and broad opportunities for research collaborations within the University of Houston as well as with other member institutions of the Texas Medical Center. The scientific environment at the University of Houston is excellent, especially in areas such as neurobiology, structural biology, computational life sciences, and bioinformatics, and we envision that with these new appointments, the Center will become a model for interdisciplinary research into the structure and function of nuclear receptors and of cell signaling more generally.
Interested applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, research plan, and cover letter to: email@example.com.
Applications will be reviewed as they are received until the positions have been filled.
