ARCHITECTURE

Assistant or Associate Professor - Architecture - Tenure-Track

Description:

The Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture seeks qualified candidates for a full-time tenure track design position at the Assistant Professor/Associate Professor level.

Candidates will be expected to demonstrate a broad understanding of the discipline of architecture, as well as strong teaching and leadership abilities. We encourage candidates with multidisciplinary interests to apply.

The Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture offers its students and faculty a platform of Integrated disciplines - Architecture, Interior Architecture, Space Architecture, and Industrial Design - that work together to negotiate the complexities of contemporary design practice, making extensive use of our state-of-the-art digital and fabrication facilities. Situated in the heart of one of the most diverse and fast-growing cities in the United States, our College promotes the idea of the city as a laboratory for research, where design is considered a form of critical thinking, calling forth innovative solutions for contemporary conditions.

Responsibilities
Candidates will be expected to teach design studios, conduct seminars and/or lecture courses, and to apply their research expertise to other programs and initiatives within the college. Opportunities are available to faculty including partnerships with community organizations or other institutions, supported research in one of the college research centers, and work with designLAB, tile professional arm of the college.

Qualifications
Qualified candidates for the position must have a Masters degree or its equivalent, as well as a degree in a design-related field, A strong record of design practice, scholarship, and teaching experience is desired. Candidates must present superior design and representation work, and demonstrate communication and collaboration skills.

Rank and salary will be appropriate to qualifications.
