Provost Strickland and deans are working closely together to deal with any and all academic issues. The Academic Affairs Division is making information available to academic advisors as well as to associate deans so that they can adequately help you.

Payment of Prior Balances for Fall 2008
Students with a prior account balance from Fall 2008 will need to pay all past due amounts on or before Thursday, December 4 to avoid a $50 severance-of-service charge and the loss of any spring 2009 enrollments. Please visit the Office of Student Financials' web page for more information.
myUH (PeopleSoft) Unavailable Sunday, December 7 and Sunday, December 14 Due to Scheduled Maintenance
myUH (PeopleSoft) will be unavailable for student use on Sunday, December 7 and Sunday, December 14 from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for scheduled maintenance. You can check on the status of this maintenance at the University of Houston's Information Technology web site.
Fall 2008 Final Exam Schedule

UH Going Bowling!
Our Coogs will face the U.S. Air Force Falcons in the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl on December 31st, 2008. Kickoff is at 11 a.m. at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Tx. UH to Offer Selected Courses During Holiday Break
University of Houston will offer selected courses in a Winter Term during the holiday break. Currently registered Fall 2008 students will now have an additional opportunity to complete selected classes in an accelerated format.
Winter term classes will be offered between December 17, 2008 and January 17, 2009. Fourteen pre-selected courses will be available from a variety of disciplines that lend to the diversity offered to students. Please note that Winter Term courses cannot be found using the class search for Spring 2009 in myUH (PeopleSoft).
Credit for UH Winter Term courses will be awarded in the spring semester. Continuing students will need to enroll in a Winter Term class via myUH (PeopleSoft) for the Spring 2009 semester. Please note that undergraduate policies, such as the 6 W Rule, and Course Enrollment Cap apply to these enrollments.
Students can enroll in Winter Term and/or Spring 2009 courses beginning November 19. To add a Winter Term course in via myUH (PeopleSoft) for the Spring 2009 semester, students will need to enter the correct class number into the “class number” field.
Please carefully review all class meeting times, mode of delivery and class footnotes for specific information on the courses. Please note: If a class during the Winter Term has a time, date, or credit hour conflict with any “regular” Spring 2009 class for which a student wishes to enroll, please contact the Office of Educational Outreach at (713) 743-3327.

Spring 2009 Tuition and Fee Bills Now Available in myUH (PeopleSoft)
Spring 2009 Tuition and Fee Bills have been calculated and are now available for viewing in student's myUH (PeopleSoft) Self-Service Center. To avoid having spring enrollment(s) canceled, students are encouraged to make payment arrangements by 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13. Students who have pending financial aid that covers less than 100% of their total tuition and fees will need to make full payment or sign up for a payment plan to cover any remaining balance. Faculty, staff and non-residential students who have no power at home or within their neighborhoods may utililze the laundry facilities at Cougar Place, between the hours of 7:00 AM, exiting the complex no later than 7:00 PM daily until October 17, 2008, or all power is restored within the area. In order to utilize the laundry facilities at Cougar Place you will need to place "flex" dollars on your Cougar1Card, since all washers and dryers are activated by the Cougar1Card only. Each load (wash or dry) costs 75¢.
Flex dollars can be added in person at the Cougar1Card Office, Room 279, University Center, or at Value Transfer Stations (VTS), including within the laundry room of Cougar Place, or on-line. (See "How to Add Money to Your Cougar1Card").
Value Transfer Stations (VTS), also known as cash-to-card machines, are machines that allow cardholders to make unattended deposits, check account balances, and purchase visitor cards for a small fee. VTS machines are located at:
- Oberholtzer Hall Residence Halls: 1st floor - end of hall near computing lab and vending machines
- Cougar Place Residence Halls: In the laundry room
- IT Library Computing Site: In the lobby area - near the ATM machine
- University Center: 2nd floor - by the Cougar One Office
- University Center Satellite: Behind restaurants by Women's Center
- Moody Towers Residence Halls:
- 1st floor North next to Woodforest ATM, across from the C-Store
- 1st floor South across from workout room and vending machines
The University of Houston has established two centers to collect donations through the Cougars Helping Cougars Hurricane Ike Relief Fund:
- University Center Underground, Room 52, the site of the former Copy Center.
- Lamar Fleming Jr. Building, rooms 136 and 138
Items of need include non-perishable food, clothes, textbooks and other books, toiletries, school supplies, toys, portable entertainment systems, television, stereos, CDs, videos, DVDs and gift cards for retail stores.
The donation centers will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. The centers will be staffed by volunteers from the Student Alumni Connection and the Student Government Association, as well as interested faculty, staff and students.
