Everyones,
As you may know by now, the next coming PPA group volunteer
event – Bayou City Art Festival – is now ready to begin scheduling!!
Here, I do have some names and email addresses that people
who signed-in on last meeting. However, I missed couples
of people’s T-shirt size. Therefore, if you are still interested
in participating, here’s what you need to know:

• 8:10 A.M. - Meet at UH faculty/staff parking lot where right
next to the UC (University Center) and the Business Department
(Melcher Hall)
• 8:25 A.M. – Leaving from UH to the Memorial Park
• 8:25 A.M. to 8:50 A.M. – Driving to the Memorial Park
• 8:50 A.M. to 9:05 A.M. – Finding the parking space!!!!!
• 9:05 A.M to 9:15 A.M. – Walk to the Volunteer Check-In tent
• 9:15 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. – Check-in and assign the assignments
• 9:30 A.M. to 1:30 A.M. – HAPPY HOURS!!!!
Location: The Bayou City Art Festival this
spring takes place in Memorial Park. A map of the grounds can

Types of volunteer Opportunities are there: Job opportunities
include face painting (no experience necessary – they have stencils!),
greeting, ticket taking, artist relations, artist relief, managing
the artist relief shifts, running the information booths, managing
the stage, managing the buses, and others.
Where do I park / how do I get there?
Public parking is not allowed in Memorial Park for the duration
of this event. The few spaces that exist are reserved for artists
and vendors, since they must be able to deliver their goods
to their booths. Therefore, it is recommended that volunteers
be dropped off or utilize the shuttle bus services. Visit this

Do I get anything besides a warm, fuzzy feeling?
- One (1) complimentary commemorative festival shirt (sizes S
– XXXL); and,
- Free admission into the festival (valid only on day of volunteering)

- Carpooling is STRONGLY recommended! I’ll give 1 more point
(total 6 points for this volunteer event) to the people who
provide carpool!

Description:
This is a 30 bed-unit set up to treat adults with many types of serious medical problems.
Medicine patients may often worry about jobs, their families, and important things thy need to do in their lives and also experience confusion or may have had some type of emotional crises. Keep in mind sometimes medical conditions and hospitalization can cause patients to be irritable or appear unfriendly; however, most patients are vey happy to interact with volunteers.
We strive to be respectful and understanding to all of our patients, and try to meet their individual needs.
Skills:
1. Passing nutrition to pre-approved patients
2. Linen changes of ambulatory patients
3. Assist PCA with non-ambulatory patients
4. Round on all patients during meals and check to see if patient needs assistance, and if meals are correct.
5. Assist with meal tray preparation and patient feeding of pre-approved patients
6. Assist patients in completing menus
7. Assist PCA with baths for appropriate patients
8. Deliver linen and gowns to each patient room
9. Deliver medical supplies to patient's rooms
10. Accurately scan requested personal items for patients
11. Deliver medical supplies to patient’s rooms
12. Do environmental audits of patient's rooms and report any problems
13. Support staff by keeping the unit environment within regulatory guidelines
14. Support emotional and spiritual needs of patients by visiting patients and family members
15. Conduct safety audits of patients, check wrist bands, fall precautions
16. Assist unit secretaries with re-stocking forms and stuff charts

Description:
The Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra seeks musicians who want to join our Orchestra
as performing members.
Non-paid vacant positions are available for:
- Violins
- Violas
- Principal Bassoon
- Percussion
- Alternates in most sections
Rehearsals are held every Tuesday night from 7:15-9:45 P.M. at the First United
Methodist Church, 3900 Lexington Boulevard, Missouri City, TX 77459 unless
otherwise noted.
There are 3 concerts scheduled for the spring portion of this season. For

** Student members who have not graduated from secondary school are required
to maintain performing membership with their school musical organization (form
must be filled out and signed by their school director at the beginning of
each semester). In cases in which a student is unable to fulfill this requirement,
the primary music educator can waive this requirement by their signature. **
Skills:
Good musicianship; strong team player; and the ability to perform both classical
and pops music within a diverse and enthusiastic orchestral setting. Strong
commitment to attend the majority of rehearsals is a necessity.
