Security Alert Update

 

April 06, 2007 Arson at the University Center (U.C.) Unknown individuals manufactured and ignited a homemade bomb, which exploded. CLEARED BY ARREST.  Five suspects were identified and arrested for Possession / Manufacture of a Prohibited Weapon, a 3rd Degree Felony. Suspects were interviewed, and confessed to manufacturing the incendiary device.  All five of the suspects have been released from the custody of the Harris County Jail after posting a $5000.00 bond.

 

 

SYNOPSIS:    At 1:13 p.m. on April 6, 2007 a University Center staff member called the Police Department to report that they had found the remnants of a small fire and three aerosol cans on the west exterior stairwell that leads down to the University Center Underground.  An unknown individual set the three aerosol cans on top of some newspaper and lit the newspaper on fire.  The aerosol cans burst as a result of the heat.  There was no permanent damage or injury as a result of the incident.  The incident occurred between 1:00 a.m. and 1:13 p.m. Friday, April 06, 2007.  An investigation is ongoing.
