Security Alert Update

 

March 21, 2007 Arson at the U.C. Satellite. Unknown individuals manufactured and ignited a homemade incendiary device.  The device failed to detonate. No one was injured. CLEARED BY ARREST.  The five suspects that were arrested for the April 06, 2007 incident admitted to manufacturing this device as well.  All five subjects were charged with one (1) count of Possession / Manufacture of a Prohibited Weapon, a 3rd degree felony.  All five of the suspects have been released from the custody of the Harris County Jail after posting a $5000.00 bond.

 

 

SYNOPSIS: At 7:45 a.m. on March 21, 2007 a UH staff member called the UH Department of Public Safety (UHDPS) to report that they had found the remnants of a small fire on the southwest stairwell that leads down to the University Center (UC) Satellite.  An unknown individual had wrapped several Bic lighters in paper and lit the paper on fire.  There was no permanent damage or injury as a result of the small fire.  The incident occurred between 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 20th and 7:35 a.m., Wednesday, March 21st.  An investigation is ongoing.
