11-14-12; UHPD responds to a false report of a person with a weapon in a campus building

At 10:09 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, the University of Houston Police Department received a call indicating that a staff member at the campus recreation center received a report of an unknown person with a gun in the facility. UHPD officers immediately responded to the scene, evacuated the building and cleared the building with the assistance of other police agencies, ensuring that there was no threat to the safety of the University community. The facility was fully cleared by 10:48 p.m. There is no indication that there was anyone in the facility with a weapon at any time.

The University of Houston Police are actively investigating this false report and are seeking input from anyone who may have useful information.
