Facilities Management Summer Projects: Business As Usual

July 25, 2013-Houston-

Summer 2013 is underway and it is business as usual with Facilities Management working the summer months to ensure university facilities and grounds are made ready for the fall semester.

Starting in late spring, Facilities Management began the process of summer project development and implementation in preparation for the return of the students in the fall. This comprehensive process began with a campus project all-call, pre-planning, budgeting, project meetings, contract preparation and execution, and strategic coordination by the facilities project management teams. By the end of the summer, every area of campus will have been impacted.

This year, summer FM projects cover the gamut from:  general classroom refresh and painting; wayfinding and signage refresh and replacement; repairing water leaks and damage; ceiling tile replacement; installing sustainable waste and recycling receptacles; asbestos abatement; and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and fire and life safety compliance requirements.  The project highlights list provided below is a small sampling of the many campus projects that are planned throughout the summer and is intended to help provide an overview of activities that will occur as Facilities Management continues to make the campus ready.
