Before this annual refresher course is taken, initially the Instructor-led course must have first been taken. This refresher course is taken annually to provide safety training for potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens in the work environment. Blood and other body fluids may contain bacteria and viruses that can cause serious injury or death. This course explains the potential hazards associated with body fluids and how workers should protect themselves with gloves and other elements comprising “universal precautions”.

EH01 — Respiratory Protection
This is a 1/2 hour course covering the safe use of air purifying respirators. Topics include, hazard types, proper fitting techniques, care, and storage of air purifying respirators. Classes offered as needed.
Classes are held in the Environmental Health and Risk Management Training Room in the General Services Building, Room 183 (Bay 17), unless otherwise noted.

Covers Texas Hazard Communication Act, record keeping requirements, education about chemical hazards and training to be provided, and how to obtain Material Safety Data Sheets.

This 1 hour course is designed to instruct how to properly pack, contain, declare and ship biohazardous materials in accordance to International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) Regulations. Classes offered as needed.
