Planning
The Planning Department supports the university’s facilities planning needs and provides capital, master, programming and interiors/space planning for central campus and support for systems campuses.
The Planning Department provides support for the university’s real estate services through strategic asset planning and development studies for property acquisitions and dispositions.
The Planning Department develops and maintains long-term plans for the development of the campus facility standards and policies such as the Campus Framework Plan.
The Planning Department provides support for Facilities Management in the Capital Renewal and Deferred Maintenance program, through providing condition reviews and reports, evaluating and prioritizing deferred maintenance needs.
The Planning Department develops and maintains campus facility technical standards such as the Campus Design Guidelines and the Master Construction Specifications to be used in the development of contract documents for all university facility design and construction projects.
The Planning Department develops programming, space planning, and furnishings standards and assumes responsibility for project programming, need projections, and preliminary scope-budget-schedule definition.
The Planning Department also provides support for the preparation and maintenance of the Facilities Capital Improvement Master Plan, and Campus Infrastructure Master Plan, communicating facilities planning objectives for review and use by the Texas Higher Education Board and the UH Board of Regents.
