General
Duties: Provide Custodial Services twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven
(7) days a week based on three (3) shifts. Perform general cleaning of
classrooms, laboratories, offices, gymnasiums and all academic areas,
locking and unlocking of all campus buildings and classrooms, collection
of recycle materials, minor pest control tasks. Submitting work request
to Customer Service Center on noted discrepancies relating to plumbing,
electrical and interior items in need of repairs. Reporting safety hazards
to the safety department. |

Cleaning Requests: All cleaning
requests must be called in to Work Control Center at 743-4948. After
working hours emergencies please call the Power Plant operator at 713-743-5791.
Requests for unlocking/locking, cleaning of classrooms, auditoriums, and
theaters for weekend events must be requested by noon Wednesday prior
to weekend requested. |

Day shift has Twenty-three (23) custodians/leads
and general responsibilities are of the emergency type and restocking
of restrooms as needed, cleaning of building entrances in support of all
campus buildings, numbering on campus fifty-three (53) and one (1) off
campus building. The day shift also has the responsibility of general
cleaning all classrooms, laboratories, offices in the following buildings;
Houston Science Center 123,149 gross sq. ft.; Pharmacy Building 49,368
gross sq. ft.; Police Station 14,498 gross sq. ft. The day shift working
hours are from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. |

Evening shift has fifty-two (52) custodians/leads
and perform general cleaning of classrooms, offices, laboratories, gymnasiums,
restrooms and other academic areas in twenty-seven (27) campus buildings
consisting of 1,697,888 gross sq. ft. The evening shift working hours
are from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. |

and all academic areas in support of twenty (20) campus buildings consisting
of 2,330,505 gross sq. ft. |

Grounds Maintenance |

| General Duties:
Responsible for
the continuing upkeep of all university of Houston grounds in an attractive
and pleasing appearance by performing general horticultural maintenance,
irrigation, clean-up of lawn, landscape and parking lots. Construction and
repair of sidewalks, curbs and other concrete/masonry work, repair or replacement
of signage, landscape furniture. Other responsibilities are pest and rodent
control. Responsibilities off campus in grounds maintenance include College
of Pharmacy, West Houston Institute and Camp Wallace (Coastal Center). Total
acres maintained off campus are approximately nine hundred and thirty-six
(936) acres and approximately five hundred and sixty (560) acres on campus. |
