America’s Leading Fraternity, Houston’s Leading Chapter

Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity is NOT the “Animal House” stereotype that is prevalent on many campuses.  The men of our brotherhood share more than a house or Greek letters…. we share principled behavior and values.  Pi Kappa Phi stands for a commitment to develop men of CLASS, who believe in the tenants of Character, Leadership, Academics, Sportsmanship, and Service.  These principles are not only valued, they are instilled through a wide variety of leading-edge educational, service, and leadership opportunities provided by the initiatives of the chapter and the national organization.  A college education is more than just attending classes, some of the greatest lessons you will learn while at the University of Houston come from experiences outside the classroom.  The men of Pi Kappa Phi experience the best opportunities for personal growth and the development of the qualities needed to become leaders.

By following the principles set forth by our national organization and the hard work of our brothers, Pi Kappa Phi has risen to a position of distinction on the University of Houston Campus.

Pi Kappa Phi is a member in good standing of the University of Houston Inter-Fraternity Council.  Currently, our chapter has more active members than any other IFC Fraternity and boasts the second highest Grade Point Average.  We are a dominant force in the wide variety of competitive Greek events held by both the University and Sororities.  Events like Frontier Fiesta, Homecoming, and the philanthropy events hosted by Sorority women are important to us because they provide our chapter with opportunities to serve others while challenging our men to excel.  Pi Kapps serve in important leadership positions on campus including the Inter-Fraternity Council, Greek Programming Council, Student Alumni Organization, and Frontier Fiesta Association.

Our commitment to service is another element that sets our Fraternity apart from others.  We are the only Fraternity to own and operate its own national philanthropy.  Push America, the national outreach project of Pi Kappa Phi, was established in 1977 and remains an important aspect of our brotherhood today.  The mission of Push America is to build the leaders of tomorrow by serving people with disabilities today.  Through its wide variety of programs Pi Kapps have the opportunity to volunteer their time in service to the disabled and further assist the less fortunate by raising both money and awareness.

At the end of the day, or when the weekend comes, it is time to step out and have some fun.  There is an important difference in the way that we party that distinguishes us from other Fraternities:  we work hard and then we play hard.  For Pi Kappa Phi partying at the house and enjoying Houston nightlife is not about ignoring academic responsibilities or chapter business, it is about cutting loose after a job well done.  The chapter maintains a busy social calendar and our major sorority mixers are the envy of the Greek community.

We believe that the most important person in our Fraternity is the next man who will join it.  As brothers we have the duty and privilege to recruit and educate another generation of leaders for our chapter.  After receiving a bid at the beginning of the semester our associate members undergo a challenging membership education program to provide them with the skills and attitude required to make them valued members of the Greek Community.  Pi Kappa Phi is a non-hazing Fraternity and our brothers are expected to show ultimate respect for one another at all times.  The process requires an entire semester to complete so that only young men who are committed to the ideals of the Fraternity and meet its standards for admission will have the opportunity to join.  Becoming an initiated brother of Pi Kappa Phi represents both a significant personal achievement and a commitment that will last a lifetime.

Our members enjoy first class facilities for both study and recreation at our 15-man residence on the University’s Greek row (House #10) and it’s doors are always open to potential rushees.
