Summer Research Program
2008
Background and objective
Research among PharmD students is
not prevalent in UH and nationwide. Perceived reasons may be a
a lack of understanding and exposure to research early in the
PharmD curriculum. While it is not the main objective of the PharmD
curriculum to train scientists, the College of Pharmacy Research
Committee has created the opportunity for a select group of PharmD
students to explore their potential to be a translational research
scientist under faculty guidance and training. The objective of
the summer research program is to provide students an early and
structured exposure to research during the summer of the first
year curriculum.
A 10-week (June 2 to August 8, 2008;
40 hours/week) attachment to one of the pharmacy faculty's lab
is available for 2-4 PharmD students.
