Residency Programs

About the University
The University of Houston is an urban teaching and research institution that sets standards of excellence in education, research and service. The University of Houston serves students in 14 colleges and offers a full range of undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees. The college, which is accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education and holds a membership in the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, is one of 81 pharmacy colleges in the United States. More than 45 basic science and clinical faculty, as well as nearly 610 adjunct faculty and preceptors, offer the 900 current pre-pharmacy and professional students diverse and experienced faculty members. The college has facilities both on the University of Houston campus and, since 1980, in the Texas Medical Center (TMC). At the TMC, students have the opportunity to train with physicians, medical students and members of our clinical faculty. In addition to faculty and staff offices, TMC also houses research laboratories, classrooms and the Contemporary Pharmacy Practice Laboratory. The college residency program is located in the TMC.

Application Process
Complete the following:

  • Application Form
  • Submit a copy of your CV
  • All College Transcripts
  • Letter of Intent describing why you want to complete this residency program
  • 3 Letters of recommendation (one should be from someone other than a college faculty member). Letters of recommendation should be mailed separately

Candidate Qualifications
Requirements for acceptance include a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and eligibility for Texas State licensure by the first of September. Applications for the residency should be received by January 7, 2008. An on-site interview will be required. Candidates should submit: a completed application form, a letter of intent, a curriculum vitae, official transcripts of all professional pharmacy education and three letters of reference completed.

Additional Information
The residency program does participate in the Match Program.

Applicants will be contacted by Mid-January to set up an on-site interview. The On-Site interviews will be an all-day event conducted at the Kelsey-Seybold and UH facilities.

By January 7, 2008, candidates should submit all application materials to:
