Financial Aid for Graduate Students
NOTE: As of October 2014, the Financial Aid policies described below apply to all current and future/incoming students.
All PPS students are supported by graduate assistantships: Research, Teaching or Instructional. The type of assistantship depends upon the availability of grant funding from advisors, the student’s interest in teaching and English language proficiency, and the instructional needs of the Pharm.D. professional program.
The stipend is $25,000 per year, with a health insurance supplement of $1,800. Student heath insurance costs $1,481. All other fees and tuition are paid by the Graduate Tuition Fellowship, leaving a net income of $25,319.
Keeping an assistantship requires a GPA of 3.0 (4.0=A), and students may shift from Research to Teaching Assistant or back as needs, circumstances and funds availability dictate.
*University-based scholarships and fellowships are awarded through the UH Office of Graduate and Professional Studies for promising entering students of exceptional caliber. Students who receive University-based scholarships or fellowships upon admission/during first year typically are eligible to receive support over multiple years (depending on fund availability and the student continuing to meet all eligibility requirements for the specific award).
Additional information about financial aid and tuition costs for graduate students is available from the UH Graduate Education Financial Aid site.
