PharmD/MS Combined Degree
Program Requirments

Curriculum

The curriculum in the combined PharmD/MS program includes fulfilling the degree requirements of both, the PharmD curriculum and that of the MS program in Pharmacy Administration. Certain courses in the combined PharmD/MS curriculum may be satisfied by the required courses for individual degree programs and need not be repeated. Students are requested to meet with their MS program advisors or the Director of Graduate Studies to discuss which courses would benefit them to pursue their career interest and satisfy their career needs with respect to the MS program.

Minimum Required Credit Hours for MS Program

The curriculum focuses on the four areas of Pharmacy Administration – pharmacoeconomics, pharmaceutical marketing, pharmaceutical management, and behavioral pharmacy.

Minimum Required Credit Hours for Combined Program

PharmD Courses 134cr (6cr satisfied with 9cr MS electives)
MS Courses     38cr   (Seminar enrolled for 4 semesters)

Total 172cr

Combined Program Course Dynamics

  1. Most MS program courses are offered during the evening so they may not interfere with other courses offered in the PharmD program.
  2. 6 credit hrs of PharmD curriculum electives will be waived. Students may take PharmD electives with approval from the graduate advisor to satisfy MS degree requirements.
  3. Students will be required to register and participate in MS program seminar courses for 4 semesters after being accepted in the combined program.
  4. One six weeks of research rotation (PharmD program) required.
