College Welcomes Associate Dean

Tara Jenkins Serves as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, Faculty Member in Pharmaceutical Health Outcomes and Policy

UHCOP recently welcomed Tara L. Jenkins, Ph.D., R.Ph., as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Health Outcomes and Policy.

Jenkins joined the college from the Bernard Dunn School of Pharmacy at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Va. She previously held faculty positions at the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy and the University of Louisiana at Monroe College of Pharmacy and has worked in both community and health-system pharmacy.  

Jenkins earned her Ph.D. in Pharmacy Administration and B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.    

Her past honors and awards include being named a Fellow of both the AACP Academic Leadership Fellowship Program and American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education; AACP Innovations in Teaching Award in 2012; Best Research Poster at Louisiana SHP Annual Meeting in 2008; ULM COP Excellence in Teaching Award in 2008; and the Postgraduate Best Paper Award (APRS-ESAS Section) at 2008 APhA Annual Meeting.

A member of Rho Chi Society, Phi Lambda Sigma, AACP and APhA, Jenkins serves as a reviewer for the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association (JAPhA), the Journal of Medical Economics, and the Annals of Pharmacotherapy.

Her primary academic/research interests are innovative teaching techniques, measurement of student learning outcomes, and large database analysis.
