Pharmacy Administration Alumnus Wins ISPOR Podium Presentation Award
Recent Graduate Chitnis Recognized for Analysis of Dementia Risk of ACE, ARB Use in Heart Failure Patients
Houston 06-03-13 - UH College of Pharmacy alumnus Abhishek Chitnis, Ph.D. ('12), M.S. ('09), was one of three recipients of the Best New Investigator Podium Presentation Awards at the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) 18th International Meeting May 18-22 in New Orleans.
Chitnis' presentation, entitled "Use of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers and risk of dementia in heart failure," was co-authored by UHCOP faculty members Michael L. Johnson, Ph.D., Rajender R. Aparasu, Ph.D., and Hua Chen, Ph.D., M.D.; Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center's Mark E. Kunik, M.D., MPH; and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston's Paul E. Schulz, M.D.
Chitnis, who now works as a research associate at United BioSource Corp. in Lexington, Mass., was among the first group of graduate students to complete the Pharmacy Administration Ph.D. program in December 2012.
