Overview
The University of Houston College of
Pharmacy Bachelor of Science in the Pharmaceutical Sciences (BSPS)
is a four-year undergraduate degree program for students interested
in pursuing health-related careers.
The purpose of the BSPS program is to
provide undergraduate students with educational experiences and
training in the pharmaceutical and related health sciences. The
pharmaceutical sciences include medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics,
pharmacology, toxicology, health administration and pharmacokinetics.
Careers within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology
industries include:
- Drug Discovery
- Pharmaceutical Formulations
- Clinical Manufacturing &
Process Improvement
- Pharmacokinetics & Metabolism
- Drug Safety & Surveillance
- Regulatory Affairs
- Medical Devices
- Drug Information
This program will also prepare students
for professional and advanced degrees in healthcare. In order
to become a BSPS major at the University of Houston, students
must request a change of major to the BSPS program once prerequisites
are met. Students who intend to complete all prerequisites by
the end of the current semester are also encouraged to visit with
an advisor and request a change of major.
