Core Course Requirements

The following courses are required core courses for pre-pharmacy students. While awaiting transcript evaluation the student may wish to enroll in:

Local State and National Government (POLS 1336, POLS 1337)

U. S. History (HIST 1377, HIST 1378)

Fundamentals of Public Speaking (COMM 1332)

Introduction of Psychology OR Introduction of Sociology

Social Science, writing intensive

English Composition I and II(only if from a non-English speaking institution)

General Information

Students who are considered International Students due to residency status but have taken all courses in the United States should apply for Admission using the College of Pharmacy application.

Students who have taken any coursework outside the United States that they wish to use for credit toward their pre-pharmacy pre-requisite courses should follow the International Transcript Evaluation Process. Please note the following about this process:

Although all information is mailed to the college of pharmacy, the transcript evaluation is done by the UH Office of International Admissions. Students should contact this office for questions regarding the evaluation.

Having an evaluation by an outside agency does not satisfy the university requirement.

 

International Transcript Evaluation Process

To have a transcript evaluated, the student must submit the following:

International application for admission

Official transcripts translated into English

Mark sheets

Photo (If International Student)

Educational forms, showing the listing of all studies

Check or money order in U.S. denomination for $75.00 with social security number on the check. This check must be separate and made out to the University of Houston.

Course description or course catalog

College of Pharmacy Application and $100.00 check or money order in U.S. denomination with social security number on the check. This check must be a separate check made out to the College of Pharmacy.

Submit all information in ONE ENVELOPE to:

Attn: Shauna Owens

The Academic Advisor, upon receiving all information, will forward the information to the UH Office of International Admissions.


The student is advised to:

Provide all requested information at the same time in one complete packet

Make a duplicate copy of all materials submitted

Allow a minimum of 12-16 weeks for the evaluation process to be completed

Wait patiently for notification via mail of transcript evaluation.

 

When to contact an Advisor

After a student has received their international transcript evaluation via mail, the student should be advised by the College of Pharmacy. Academic advising is provided in a two-step procedure in the SR II building, suite 122. Please bring your transcript evaluation to the advising session.
