On completion of a Doctor
of Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D.), you will have many opportunities
to contribute to the health-care delivery system in this country.
From patient care to a career in academia, government or industry
our pharmacists are in the forefront of changes in the use of
drugs in the treatment of diseases. A nationwide shortage
of pharmacists currently exists, making your decision to join
the profession a timely one. Clearly, the future is bright
for pharmacists as they take on the challenge to provide pharmaceutical
care for the increasingly aging baby boomer population.
In addition to the professional degree in pharmacy, we also offer
Doctor of Philosophy degrees as well as a joint Pharm.D/Ph.D.
and a Master of Science in Pharmacy Administration.
Our diverse student body
is embraced by our faculty, who not only serve as professors but
also as mentors and friends. Our relatively small class sizes
foster friendship and bonding of students who learn to work together
as a team.
Our location, on both the
University of Houston main campus and in the heart of the Texas
Medical Center (TMC), provides us the best of both worlds. Students
enjoy the community feeling of the University of Houston and at
the same time are part of the vibrant environment of the world’s
largest medical center. Opportunities exist for interaction
with students, faculty and practitioners from other renowned TMC
institutions.
With its cutting-edge curriculum,
outstanding faculty and research opportunities, and location in
a city with a rich mosaic of culture, the UH College of Pharmacy
is an international leader in educating and preparing pharmacists
for tomorrow’s world of pharmacy. I invite you to join us on this
exciting journey.
