PeopleSoft Self Service is Here!
Over the past year, the university has implemented PeopleSoft Student Administration —a software application that, when fully implemented, will integrate numerous stand-alone systems and increase support services for our students, faculty, and staff.
- What is PeopleSoft Self Service?
PeopleSoft Self Service provides you access to the powerful new PeopleSoft Student Administration system.
Self-service options for students will include the ability to enroll in classes, change address and phone information, view their University bill, accept/decline financial aid, and view course schedules, grades, and transcript information. Faculty will enter grades, and advisors will be able to view advisee class schedules. - When will PeopleSoft Self Service be implemented?
You can already access PeopleSoft Self Service today! A number of services are currently available and additional services will continue to be rolled-out. You can check back at this site for availability updates. In the meantime, you can continue to use Enrollment Services Online as usual for other services for Spring/Summer '07.
- Why do we need this new system? Can’t we do many of these things already today?
While you may be able to perform many transactions online from the same location today, many of the databases supporting the information you are accessing are separate. PeopleSoft Student Administration will integrate many of the stand-alone systems and databases you access today, and migrate them into a robust “enterprise management system.” In the future, many more services will be possible because of this more powerful application.
- What do students need to know about PeopleSoft Self Service? What will be different from Enrollment Services Online?
The most important thing for students to know is that you have a new PeopleSoft ID. This ID will replace your HA# and serve as your primary student ID. Students can retrieve their new PeopleSoft ID through Enrollment Services Online. Make sure to document your new ID and password as you will need it for many student services.
The most significant differences you will notice from Enrollment Services Online to the new PeopleSoft Self Service are the look and feel of the system and the names of services. The interface is very user-friendly and easy to learn, but it may take you a bit of time to get used to—like upgrading to new software on your PC.
You will also have some new options—services that weren’t available in Enrollment Services Online—so make sure to take some time to play around once all features are implemented. Remember, that services will be rolled out over time, so you will only be able to access services that are currently available.
- Do any other universities use this system?
Today, more than 300 universities use the PeopleSoft Student Administration system—from the University of Michigan and Princeton to SMU and the University of North Texas. In addition, the University of Houston System has been using the PeopleSoft Finance and Human Resources applications for a number of years.
