Attend orientation or request a waiver

University of Houston offers several orientations for students to register for classes, learn about available resources, and tour the campus.

Undergraduate students living outside of the Houston area completing an online degree can request an orientation waiver by contacting our office.

Graduate student orientation is recommended but not mandatory.

Register for classes

The Class Search can help you locate online and off-campus classes. Students will register for classes using AccessUH. Contact your academic advisor to assist you in selecting the right classes.

Participate in classes and use online tools

Most online classes use a web-based learning management system, such as Blackboard and CourseWare. These systems provide an online environment for student interaction, submitting assignments, and completing exams.

Off-campus classes are held like main campus classes, but usually have smaller class sizes and are located in convenient Houston area locations.
