Dr. Richard Meisel uses genetic and genomic approaches to study population biology, evolution, and development. For example, his lab is interested in the genes and chromosomes that determine sex, gene expression differences between males and females, and sexual dimorphism. Most of the work involves a variety of fly species, from the genetic model Drosophila to non-model species with interesting biology or important agricultural and medical impact.
