About Nepal

Nepal, officially the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, is a small beautiful country which lies in South Asia. It has an area of 147,181 square kilometres and a population of approximately 27 million. Nepal is the world's 93rd largest country by land mass and the 41st most populous country. It is located in the Himalayas and bordered to the north by the People's Republic of China, and to the south, east, and west by the Republic of India.

It has the highest peak in the world Mount Everest (Sagarmatha in Nepali) (8,848 metres). Seven other of the world's eight thousand metre peaks Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Kanchenjunga, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Manaslu are in Nepal.

Nepal is a secular country. Most of the people in Nepal follow Hinduism (80.6%). Nepal is home to the famous Lord Shiva temple, the Pashupatinath Temple, where Hindus from all over the world come for pilgrimage. The second religion is Buddhism. About 10.7% people of Nepal follow Buddhism. Lord Buddha was born in Lumbini, Nepal. Every years, thousands of tourists come to visit Buddha's birth place Lumbini. Besides Hindu and Buddhism, there are some other religions like Islam, Mundhum, Christian also.
