Game Day, Any Day: UH National Commercial Features Cougar Red Fridays and Dennis Quaid

The University of Houston 2019-20 national commercial has been released, and this year Cougar traditions and a famous alumnus are in the spotlight. The tradition of wearing red on Cougar Red Fridays is the theme of the 30-second spot, titled “Game Day, Any Day,” which was voiced by award-winning actor and UH alumnus Dennis Quaid and includes a cameo appearance.

The commercial was produced internally by the UH Division of Marketing and Communications and celebrates the pride Cougars have for their university’s colors and traditions— no matter the day of the week.

“When it comes to Cougar spirit, game day really is any day, and we take it seriously,” said Lisa Holdeman, UH vice president of marketing and communications. “When our campus unites by wearing red you feel a powerful cohesiveness and connectivity that is very special. But Cougar pride doesn’t just happen on Fridays or on campus, you take it with you for the rest of your life.”

The commercial will debut nationally on Sunday, Sept. 1, during the Houston Cougar football opener against nationally-ranked Oklahoma at 6:30 p.m. on ABC. The spot will air during each televised UH football game, as well as during regional and national telecasts featuring UH athletics teams throughout the 2019-20 academic year.
