How does the production of energy combine with a region’s culture to affect the urban landscape? That will be the topic of a talk by Wes Michaels, a landscape architect from Louisiana State University, at the University of Houston. The talk begins at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Room 101 of Cemo Hall.
Michaels is co-founder of the LSU Urban Landscape Lab, which researches the ecological and cultural relationships in urban areas, an outgrowth of the rebuilding of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
The talk, which is sponsored by UH Energy and the Center for Public History, is free and open to the public. Michaels will address biofuels and wind power, as well as water infrastructure and how energy production affects the distribution and management of shared resources.
