The University of Houston is among the world’s top institutions for producing global business leaders. UH recently cracked the top 100 international universities  -- ranked by publication Times Higher Education  – that have educated the most Fortune Global 500 CEOs.

Rankings were recently published in the publication’s supplement Times Higher Education Alma Mater Index: Global Executives 2013. Universities were ranked according to the number of degrees (bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral) awarded to CEOs, number of CEOs as graduates and total revenue of the businesses operated by these graduates. The University is one of just 38 U.S. institutions to be included in Times Higher Education’s Alma Mater Index.

UH is ranked 98th on the list and boasts two Cougar executives leading two of the world’s largest companies with a combined revenue of $63 billion. These include alums Bruce D. Broussard, CEO for Humana Inc., who holds a Master of Business Administration, and Stephen I. Chazen, CEO for Occidental Petroleum Corporation, who earned a Master of Science in Finance.

This recent index complements the University’s presence in other higher education rankings. In August, UH was ranked fourth in the country as a university that provides the “Best Bang for Their Buck.” This ranking was compiled by non-partisan news site Policymic and based on U.S. President Barack Obama’s new plan for college affordability. The University also was listed in The Princeton Review’s “The Best 378 Colleges,” which based its findings on student surveys.
