Early Detection Key to Preserving Eyesight

More than 3 million Americans age 40 and older suffer from glaucoma – the leading cause of preventable blindness. Nearly half do not know they have the disease, because it causes no early symptoms. Military-Related Events Celebrated Sept. 13 During U.S. Air Force Academy vs. UH Football Game

September 2, 2008 - Houston -

The Air Force ROTC Program at the University of Houston is heavily involved in supporting the first meeting of the United States Air Force Academy and University of Houston football teams on Saturday, Sept. 13. Kick off is at 2:30 p.m. at Robertson Stadium.

UH has designated this game as its annual salute to the Armed Forces. Detachment 003, which is co-hosting this historic event, has been the fastest-growing Air Force ROTC Detachment in the nation over the past two years. The event also marks the Detachment's fifth year, as well as the first anniversary of the Houston Corps of Cadets. Key events include:

  • The Air Force Academy's Jump Team will parachute onto the field just prior to kickoff
  • Air Force aircraft will fly over the field
  • The Houston Corps of Cadets Color Guard will present the colors
  • Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine cadets will take the Oath of Office
  • Combat-related awards will be presented
  • President Renu Khator will receive gifts from AFROTC Detachment 003 and the Houston Corps of Cadets
