2008 Frontier Fiesta at UH to Feature Concerts, Carnival

Rock, Tejano, Country and Hip-Hop Acts to Perform March 27 - 29

Hip-hop, Tejano, country and rock. Just as the University of Houston's student population is diverse, so are the sounds that will pulsate from the university's 2008 Frontier Fiesta March 27 - 29.

The annual student-sponsored event will feature country act the Drew Davis Band, Tejano groups Siggno and Evolucion, hip-hop artists Mutt aka "Wolf" and KB da Kidnappa and alternative rock bands Versecity and Cobra Starship. A battle of the bands will include performances from local artists American Masquerade, Wings Burn Away, Osirus and Rigsby.

The event's site, Frontier City, is located behind UH's Robertson Stadium. Frontier City opens at 5 p.m. on March 27 and 28 and at noon on March 29. Admission to Frontier Fiesta and its concerts are free to the public. The Frontier Fiesta concert schedule is as follows:

March 27 - 8 p.m. Battle of the Bands; 10 p.m. Drew Davis Band
March 28 - 9:30 p.m. Evolucion; 10:30 p.m. Siggno
March 29 - 7:15 p.m. Mutt aka "Wolf"; 7:40 p.m. KB da Kidnappa; 8:40 p.m. Versecity; 10 p.m. Cobra Starship

A tradition since the 1940s, Frontier Fiesta was labeled "The Greatest College Show on Earth" by Life magazine. In addition to concerts, the event also showcases student-produced Broadway-style variety shows, carnival booths, cultural and educational performances, a world-class cook-off and a scholarship competition.
