Blaffer Gallery, The Art Museum of the University of Houston is the premier location for two major exhibits of work by Josephine Meckseper and Jon Pylypchuk through November 14th.
Josephine Meckseper premiers her first major solo exhibition in a Texas museum at Blaffer Gallery. Meckseper’s exhibition focuses on her recent works that examine the conflicting interests of the mass media, politicians, and the oil and auto industries as played out in the Iraq War. Jon Pylypchuk has chosen to debut his first major solo exhibition in a U.S. museum at Blaffer Gallery. Pylypchuk’s exhibition includes sculptures, paintings, and drawings that draw upon the animal world to explore the frailty of human existence and social relationships.

Now in its third year, the Tailgate Spirit Challenge pits The UH Alumni Association's many different constituent groups in a battle of BBQ and Cougar pride. 27th Annual Homecoming Golf Tournament – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
In addition to spending the day at the beautiful 27-hole Pecan Grove course, participants can win prizes in skill contests, raffles, and a silent auction. The tournament format is a Florida scramble with four-player teams. A box lunch and on-course refreshments will be provided. Pecan Grove Plantation Country Club rules require soft-spikes.
