CELEBRATE YOUR COUGAR SPIRIT WITH OLD TRADITIONS & NEW BEGINNINGS
Houston defeated Tulane University 42-14 in the Cougars annual Homecoming football contest Nov. 8.
With a theme of "Old Traditions -- New Beginnings," the festive occasion included recognition of 2008 Olympic silver medalists, UH Cougar divers Anastasia Pozdniakova and Yulia Pakhalina. They, along with current UH diving coach Jane Figueiredo, served as honorary captains for the game.
The Cougar women's basketball team also was acknowledged during the game, in preparation for its 2008 season .The Cougar baseball team was recognized for its 2008 Conference USA Tournament Championship.
Half-time included a salute to the 1978 UH football team as the players celebrated their 30th reunion.
The Cougars have posted a 33-27-3 all-time record during their Homecoming games. UH has not lost a Homecoming game since a 31-10 decision to C-USA rival Southern Miss in 2003.
